The waste gas produced from industrial process contains a number of greenhouse gases (GHG), including carbon dioxide (CO2). In developing countries with rapid economic growth, an increase in GHG emissions derived from waste gas is expected. Measures such as discharge control and the recovery of waste gas leads to GHG emission reductions.

Philippine Sinter Corporation Sinter Cooler Waste Heat Recovery Power Generation ProjectPhilippines

This project involves waste heat recovery from the sintering process at the sinter factory operated by the Philippine Sinter Corporation in Mindanao, Philippines.
The recovered heat is utilized for 18 MW power generation.

The project is one of the first of its kind in the country, with very few sintering plants having the configuration necessary for waste heat power generation.

The project generates 120,000 MWh electricity annually and replaces fossil fuel based electricity supplied by the Mindanao grid, resulting in emission reductions of approximately 61 thousand tCO2e per year.

Samsung Electronics SF6 abatement projectKorea

This project involves the installation of SF6 abatement devices at an LCD production plant operated by Samsung Electronics in Korea. The project aims to reduce SF6 gas content of the exhaust gas from the LCD etching process.

Though SF 6 gas is a greenhouse gas (GHG), SF6 gas itself is odorless, non-toxic and non-flammable and there is no law or regulation that mandates the decomposition or destruction of SF6 gas in Korea.

The abatement device installed in the project destroys SF6 gases at an operating temperature of 1,200 ~ 1,400ÂșC, resulting in emission reductions of approximately 770 thousand tCO2e per year.
