Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities : Project Highlights [ PDF 64KB ]

UkrHydroEnergo (UHE) hydropower rehabilitation project in Ukraine (ERUs issued to date: 274,377)

UkrHydroEnergo (UHE) hydropower rehabilitation project in Ukraine(ERUs issued to date: 274,377)Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities conducted the baseline study for this project under assignment for the World Bank.

The project, involving the rehabilitation of hydropower plants located on Dnipro and Dnister Rivers, will increase the electricity generation capacity and efficiency at the plants. Additional power generated by the rehabilitated hydropower units will displace that generated by thermal plants. It is estimated that emission reductions due to displaced thermal electricity generation will be just over 1.4 million tCO2e between 2006 and the end of 2012.

Taishir Hydro Power Generation Project in Mongolia (CERs issued to date: 886)

The Taishir Hydropower project is one of the first hydropower generation projects in Mongolia. The 11MW power generation facility is installed on the Zavkhan River, and will provide approximately 37,000MWh of electricity per year to the provinces of Gobi Altai and Zavkhan. Electricity supply in these isolated areas is currently dependent on small diesel generators. The project activity will meet approximately 90% of the electricity demand of Gobi Altai and Zavkhan.

The project commenced commercial electricity production in 2008, and is expected to result in approximately 200,000 CERs during the 7 years of its first crediting period. REGISTERED MARCH 2007.

Wantan 32MW Hydropower Project, Sichuan Province, China (CERs issued to date: 35,344)

The Miyi Wantan Hydroelectric Project involves the construction of a hydroelectric plant with a small holding reservoir in Miyi County, northeast of Panshihua City, Sichuan Province, China. The Project involves the installation of two 16MW turbine-generator sets, giving a total generation capacity of 32MW. The electricity generated by the Project Activity will be exported to the Central China Power Grid.
The Project achieves greenhouse gas emission reductions by displacing electricity generation by fossil-fuel-fired power plants connected to the grid. The Project also contributes to the sustainable development of the region by supplying a reliable, clean source of energy and providing skilled jobs for the local workforce.
The Project is expected to generate approximately 135,000 MWh/year of electricity for export to the grid. Annual emission reductions over the first 7-year crediting period are expected to be in the region of 130,000 tCO2e. REGISTERED NOVEMBER 2009.
