The Global Markets Business Unit handles fixed income, equities, derivatives and all other secondary market activities across Head Office and overseas bases. By working closely with other business units responsible for sales to institutional investors and Japanese corporate and retail sales, we have established a framework that enables us to quickly respond to a variety of customer needs. Solutions include traditional securities products, new types of products, hybrid products and other schemes developed in-house.
In April 2008, we formed the Financial Solutions Group to cater to the increasingly sophisticated and diverse needs of large companies, as well as Japanese and overseas institutional investors. By concentrating solutions provision capabilities in this group, we will be better able to meet these needs. In June, we also reorganized our operation. This entailed concentrating trading functions for secondary market activities and the sales division in charge of sales to institutional investors in the Sales & Trading Group. This move has strengthened our trading functions and provision of cross products.
